Skylar Hughes is an artist living and working in Los Angeles, CA.


I am interested in art making as an embodiment of nature’s process of chance, change, and growth; I try to paint how it feels to be in nature, connected to something outside of ourselves and the confines of life’s everyday structures.  

My recent work focuses on seasons and dually split canvases as visual framework for explorations on the concurrent nature of structure / temporality, fullness / emptiness, awareness / unconsciousness,
limitation / possibility, the present / what’s next.
